System Of A Down’s drummer, John Dolmayan, has just released his solo LP These Grey Men and naturally been conducting interviews for its promotion. Naturally, it also comes with a slew of interviews that surround the elephant in the room, the whereabouts of a new SOAD record.
Billboard is currently hosting the stream of the Dolmayan’s album, which includes lots of awesome covers and collaborations, and also included an interview discussing his frustrations of SOAD and how it lead to his solo project in the first place.
When asked why SOAD isn’t doing another record:
I don’t know. Maybe because we’re stupid? Because our egos get in the way? Maybe because there’s too much drama from the past that people can’t get past. I don’t have a good answer for you because I don’t agree with not doing an album. It sucks.
When asked if they’ve been close to getting together to work on a record:
“Some of us are closer than others, I think. Not all of us get along very well, but I say we all get along good enough. It’s kind of like having brothers, man. You have three brothers, you’re not going to like all of them the same. They’re not all going to like you the same. Each of us has our favorites, but at the end of the day, you’re brothers nonetheless. But I want to kill some of the guys in the band sometimes.”
Yikes! Whether they get along or not, they’ll definitely have lots of time to work it out with their upcoming tour schedule you can check below. Here’s hoping things go smoothly so they decide to move ahead and work on new music.
