Last winter, in the Before Times, we told you about Gravesend, whose debut EP, Preparations For Human Disposal, exposed the seedy, grimy underbelly of the New York City of yesteryear through dirty, blackened, sludgy, grindy death metal.
The “preparations” have now concluded and it’s time for the main body burying event: the band’s first full-length album, Methods Of Human Disposal, is on the way, and its debut single, “Needle Park,” is our first taste.
That song name alone is enough to evoke memories of stepping over passed out drug addicts and dodging needles strewn about the East Village sidewalks in the 1980s and ’90s. If you weren’t privy to that era of NYC, no worries: the music is nasty enough that it conveys the mood perfectly.
Check out “Needle Park” below. Methods Of Human Disposal arrives on the bottom of the fetid Gowanus Canal on February 19 via 20 Buck Spin; pre-order here.
