Corey Taylor Opens Up About Joey Jordison’s Death: „It’s A Damn Tragedy“

Drummer Joey Jordison passed away at 46 years old this past July, which of course sent ripples throughout the rock and metal world. Now in an interview with SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor called Jordison’s passing a „damn shame“ and confirms the band has been there to help Jordison’s family throughout the process.

„It’s been tough, man. Our first concern was obviously his family, so we reached out immediately to make sure that they were okay, to let them know if they needed anything from us, they could absolutely ask.

„It’s a damn tragedy,“ added Taylor. „He was way too young, and he was way too talented to lose him like this.

„I know a lot of people wonder about the circumstances that led to him not being in the band anymore, and it’s, like, we’re not gonna talk about that, because I’d rather talk about his legacy, which is that he helped create this band that we all have fought to keep out there and keep going.“

Jordison founded Slipknot in 1995 alongside percussionist Shawn Crahan and bassist Paul Gray. Jordison left the band in 2013 and went on to play in such groups as Sinsaenum, Vimic, and Scar The Martyr.
