Machine Gun Kelly Slams Slipknot as “Old Weird Dudes With Masks”

Here’s everything I know about Machine Gun Kelly:

  • He played Tommy Lee in The Dirt.
  • He’s dating Megan Fox.
  • Security recently prevented Conor McGregor from breaking him.

In addition to those illustrious achievements, however, Kelly has also, apparently, been the subject of Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor’s ire. In February, Taylor Cutter’s Rockcast:

“I hate everything. I hate all new rock for the most part. I [hate] the artists who failed in one genre and decided to go rock – and I think he knows who he is.”

He may know who he is, but I wouldn’t have. I don’t why Taylor cares what Kelly does with himself, but far be it from me to tell God’s Gift to Metal what to say.

In any case, Kelly apparently struck back last night. The 31-year-old closed out Chicago’s Riot Fest on one stage, while Slipknot were doing the same thing on another stage elsewhere on the festival grounds. According to Metal Hammer, Kelly took the opportunity to diss the ‘Knot:

“Hey, you wanna know what I’m really happy that I’m not doing? Being 50 years old wearing a fucking weird mask on a fucking stage. Fucking shit… Turn the lights up. Let me see who chose to be here instead of with all the old weird dudes with masks.”

Fifty isn’t all that old, but otherwise, Kelly wasn’t technically wrong: Slipknot are weird dudes with masks. I don’t even think they should take that as an insult. It’s like Kelly looked at a book and said “Look at this thing with all this paper bound together and words printed in it.” Yup. You nailed, it bruh.

No word on what Corey Taylor thinks.
